Ventnor High Street in the early 1900s

This view of Ventnor High Street was taken in the early 1900s.  It shows Henry George Field’s drapery shop, close to the junction with Spring Hill and next door to ‘G Stowell, Seedsman’. There is a band playing in the road, a ‘Gilbert & Son’ bread cart, and a housemaid looking up the street from the doorway of London House.
