Ventnor & District Local History Society

The Society was established in 1980 and aims to research and preserve the local history of the area, and to encourage its study by meetings, exhibitions, studies, lectures and publications.

We have acquired an extensive collection of artefacts, documents and images, including Fay Brown's Indexes, and we welcome research enquiries. A range of publications, many of them written by Society members, are are available for sale in our Museum.

The Society holds monthly meetings covering a range of subjects, provides a weekly local history page in the 'South Wight Chronicle', and publishes a free newsletter for members twice a year. We welcome new members, so please get in touch if you are interested in the local history of our area, and would like to get involved.

The Ventnor Heritage Centre in Spring Hill, where the Society is based, is open on weekdays during the Summer and on Saturday mornings throughout the year (opening times), but we can be contacted by email at any time.
